Forest Park Blue Fins 2023 Swim Season

It is that time of year again and with the long cold winter I am ready for some sun and swimming. Please read through this whole email for lots of info about the upcoming seasons!

A few additional items will be available for purchase with registration, including yard signs. Please consider buying a “Forest Park Swimmer Lives Here” yard sign or other items to show off your Blue Fin pride and help support the team!

Ordering Swimsuits & Gear

The required meet swimsuit and other Blue Fins Appel will be available for purchase from the team store put on by Out of Breath. The online swim store will be open at the same time as registration. I highly recommend if you need a swimsuit that you order at this time to guarantee that it arrives before the first meet and you don't forget. There is only one store this year and it closes May 6. New Meet System This Year

This summer, the league has elected to switch the meet management system that we use to run the meets. We no longer be using Swimmingly, and will be switching to Meet Maestro, run though SwimTopia. As a result, families will no longer have to pay a per swimmer separate Swimmingly fee. As the cost per swimmer is built into registration fee. Families can purchase an app to follow along digitally and see results live at the meets. More to come on the SwimTopia Mobile App.

Volunteers Requirements

Volunteers are crucial to running our meets! We couldn't do it without you!

During registration, families will be required to sign up for the volunteer spots for the summer season. Each family will be required to fulfill a total of 3 volunteer credits throughout the regular swim meet season. One credit is equal to 1 shift at a meet, and families may sign up for a maximum of 2 shifts per meet. Certain Key Volunteers and season-long volunteer spots will be awarded 3 credits to fulfill their requirements.

Volunteer Deposit/Authorization

New this year; we will be collecting a credit card authorization of $225 ($75/credit) per family during registration. This will not put a hold on your credit card but will give the Forest Park Swim team the right to charge your credit card at the conclusion of the season if you do not meet your volunteer requirements (Credit cards will be charged $75 for each volunteer credit not completed, up to a maximum of $225). This is not a buyout option. We would much rather have your time and commitment!

Additionally, if any of your swimmers are entered into Prelims&/or Finals, your family will be required to work additional shifts to ensure those meets have the volunteers needed to run smoothly.

Key Volunteer Needed

We are in search of some new key positions this year!

This will be Allison Meier third and final year as Treasurer. We need a trainee from Forest Park to follow her and take over next year. This will give you 3 credits for the year.

Also, I would like to have a trainee for the Forest Park Parent Rep. This will give you 3 credits for the year. I plan to help next year but also want someone to be trained and ready to go. So, if you have younger kids in the program consider this for the longevity of the swim team. This position can be taken by a duo, as long as one of the Reps are from the Forest Park neighborhood; others can be from outside the neighborhood.

Also, our long -time volunteer Starter Referee is getting married this summer and will not be available for 2 of our home meets. This is a crucial position and we need someone to step up and help our meets run smoothly. He has volunteered to train someone at our Mock Meet at the beginning of season and there is a clinic from the swim league to guide you before taking over. This is 3 credits and you do get free breakfast burritos.

Stroke Judges

We could use more stroke judges. I will give you a $25 off credit for registration. Please contact me if this sounds appealing. Also, older stroke judges please email me if you plan to come back and want to be the head of the stroke judges. I need a total of 10-12 judges. Clinics will be available for new judges and zoom clinics for older judges.

Guppies

We will continue the Little Guppies program with a few changes this year. Registration for this will be after the main registration. More to come…
