Stroke Judge Clarification & Training
Hi everyone,
Just a quick clarification on the Stroke Judge option you'll see during registration this year!
NEW for this year is online stroke judge training. This is a collaboration with USA Swimming so that stroke judges can obtain self-paced, online training (rather than the previous in-person training). This makes the "pathway" into this volunteer role easier and more consistent. The training should take between 60-90 minutes.
When you register for Blue Fins, one of the questions will be whether you'd like to be a stroke judge this year. If you commit to the stroke judge training, you'll receive a $40 registration discount (which covers the $30 training, plus a little extra incentive!).
My hope is that we can get at least 10 stroke judges this year. That will cover all judging spots for the season (if we get more than 10, it lessens the judging load for each family!) I'd even be happy if we got a bunch of people simply trained through this online program... just so we have more eligible judges if needed.
Thank you for considering this! Please reach out with any questions,
Sarah
Additional Info:
- A link to the Stroke & Turn Judge Training will be emailed to you in mid-April.
- New Stroke Judges should attend the Mock Meet (May 30, 8-10am) for practice.
- We do want all judges (regardless of previous experience) to take the training. This helps with consistency, and also serves as a useful refresher.
- Individuals already certified through USA Swimming do not need to complete the online training (please send a copy of your certification to me at [email protected]).
